Jeremy Doucette, M.Ed., M.A., C. Psych. Assoc.

Registration:

I am licensed as a psychological associate with CPO (College of Psychologists of Ontario) with autonomous practice in clinical, counselling, and school psychology with children, adolescents, and adults.

My Goals and Approach:

Primarily, I carry out psycho-educational assessments with students of all ages. I also provide autism assessments, counselling (or psychotherapy), and consultation.

Shared goals with my clients often include developing insight, compassion for self and others, healthy habits, coping skills, and other skills relevant to specific needs. These goals are achieved within the context of a caring and professional relationship.

As an assessor, I strive to help my clients feel at ease and able to put forth their best effort towards testing. I strive to thoroughly account for learning, social, and emotional-related factors that inform one's functioning, allowing me to differentiate potential diagnoses and provide feedback and recommendations that are relevant and practical to the individual.

As a counsellor, I utilize strategies from several established modalities (including motivational interviewing, short-term psychodynamic therapy, cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), short-term psychodynamic psychotherapy, and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT)).

Clinical Experience:

Before opening Developmental Psychology Centre in September 2023, I held a full-time position with the OCDSB (Ottawa-Carleton District School Board) for a year-and-a-half where I supported students, families, and staff. Concurrently, I maintained a small private counselling practice.

Prior to moving to Ottawa in early 2022, I practiced for six years at Chisholm Psychology Centre in Oakville where I was trained and supervised in assessment, diagnostics, and psychotherapy by a team of psychologists.

As part of my graduate training, I completed an internship with the Thames Valley District School Board in London, Ontario.

Formal Education:

  • M.A. in Clinical Developmental Psychology (York University)

  • M.Ed. in Counselling Psychology (Western University)

  • B.A. (with honours in psychology) (University of Prince Edward Island)

I am committed to ongoing professional development. Activities have included participating in seminars on psychotherapy and ethics, peer consultation groups, and certified training in the administration of the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (ADOS) and Autism Diagnostic Interview (ADI).

Language:

I provide services in English.
